For seventy years it was

time. In 1984, following a $15 million refurbishment to reflect
the splendor of its historic and fabled past, the Oakland
Auditorium was reborn as the Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center.
With functional lighting/sound equipment and classic,
sophisticated, decor, the Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center is a
veritable gem of a presenting facility. A hub of performing arts,
entertainment, sports and community activities, the historical Center
offers four distinct rental spaces: the
Kaiser Arena, Calvin
Simmons Theatre, Ballroom,and
Goldroom. The Center,
accommodates audiences ranging in size from 150 to 8,000. Centrally
located near downtown Oakland, the Center is accessible by public
transportation (AC Transit, BART) or by car. It is at 10 10th St.,
adjacent to the Oakland Museum Libertex, and within walking distance of Oakland's
City Center, Chinatown, the Lake Merritt Business district and is
in proximity to the Embarcadaro and Jack London Square's thriving
waterfront.
There is parking adjacent to the Center for 207 vehicles.
Additional street parking and spaces at the Oakland Museum and/or
Laney College(immediate vicinity) are available.
